Well what can we say about June? It was certainly a mix of seasons all in one month! Sunshine, rain and some very chilly days which left us wondering where on earth summer is? However, with plenty to see and do around the Yorkshire Dales no matter the weather we’ve been busy as always and there’s lots of fab events coming up to factor into your stay with us!
Whether it’s 9 degrees outside or 19 we always offer a warm welcome and a room to dry off in if the elements are against you to make sure you set off for your next adventure warm and dry! Many of our guests arrive on foot, having completed one of the pathways which take you right past our door-The Pennine Way, The Herriot Way, The Lady Ann Way, The Wainwright Way just to name a few! Others enjoy days tootling around the dales by car enjoying our many attractions in the area whether that’s learning how the famous Wensleydale Cheese is made or taking a trip to the highest pub in England! There’s just so much to do and it shows with many of our guests returning year upon year to discover something new.
The agricultural and local shows kick off in July, filling up our calendars right the way through until September. These events are hugely popular and our rooms always book up well in advance-take a look at our offers page to take advantage of some great rates for your visit to the Dales for these great annual events. Here’s just a few dates for your diary:
Yorkshire Dales Festival of Food & Drink (Skipton)-20th & 21st July
Bainbridge Hill Climb-24th July
Wensleydale Agricultural Show (Leyburn) -24th August
Reeth Show-26th August (Bank Holiday Monday)
Kilsney Show-27th August
Muker Show-4th September
Hunton Steam Gathering-7th & 8th September
Pateley Bridge Show-23rd September
Bainbridge Hill Climb is a hugely popular event just down the road from us if you’re after an action-packed evening in some stunning surroundings! It’s a tournament of who can ride their motorbike up the extremely steep hill fastest-a captivating sight!
We may be biased but this year we’d really recommend taking a trip to Skipton for the Yorkshire Festival of Food & Drink as Francis Smaller Fudge are making their debut appearance exhibiting at the show with their delicious selection of handmade fudges. For those of you who don’t know Francis Smaller Fudge is the brainchild of my son and the fudge he has worked so hard to formulate and manufacture is definitely worth the trip to have a try!
We’ll also be taking a little break this month as we go on our summer holiday with our two lovely dogs. You can’t beat a trip away in the British Isles, especially since it means the dogs don’t get left behind! We’re only away for a few days to that leaves plenty of dates available to book your stay with us throughout July and into August. We’d urge you to take advantage of some of our offers for a late-summer getaway, just in time to enjoy some of our fab local events too!
