Summer is marching on. We’ve been very busy but managed to find time for a little holiday for ourselves. However, now it’s back to business.
There are some great things happening in August and the country shows are very popular with our visitors. Coming up this month is Ripley show on the 11th August, it’s a lovely show and not too huge to get around in the one day.
The Wensleydale show held in Leyburn is a very popular show and only about 20 minutes from Askrigg. We have visitors returning for this every year on the 24th August.
We then have our own little produce show here in Askrigg on 25th August. This annual event takes place in the village hall where all the keen Gardeners are showing their produce. There are craft, cakes, preserves, photographs, Art, children’s entries too. Bernie is once again judging the vegetables, quite a task I must say and competition is fierce across all of the classes. Doors open at 2.30pm, it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
We then have Reeth Show the following day on Bank Holiday Monday then Kilnsey Show on Tuesday 27th so you can make quite a week of it! All of these shows are close by as well as lots of other attractions to explore, Askrigg is an ideal base to see it all if we do say so ourselves!
One of our favourite places to head to is Aysgarth Falls just down the road. The falls are beautiful and make sure not to miss a visit to Mill Race Tea Room right next to the falls. Enjoy some fantastic home baking including delicious scones and a huge range of cakes on offer every day!
If you’re in need of some more inspiration for places to visit take a look just here If we haven’t tempted you to book your stay yet we still have some great offers for stays with us this summer.
Also, we’ve already announced our early 2020 offers so get in early to take advantage of those. We’ve already had lots of enquiries for next year’s bank holidays so these offers won't be around for long!
Thank you to our regular guest Steven who regularly comes to stay with us all the way from Birmingham. He is an avid photographer and has recently been sharing some shots of our local area with us including the one we've added to this post. We can't wait to share some more of his great photos of the Dales.
